ELA: You should have your nonfiction introduction and two topics done by tomorrow.  I will begin scoring them on Friday! Remember to use your checklist which includes: Headings, subheadings, maps, illustrations, (These need to connect with the text), quotes form a reliable source that backs up your writing, and add your voice!

Writing: Many students need to continue to work on their nonfiction writing You should have introduction, and two more topics in your writing.   (Remember each topic should be about a page) Your nonfiction text features should also be included.

Reading: If you did not get your questions done about the mood for Indian Captive than you need to complete it.

Read for 1/2 hour for independent reading goal!

Reading: Make sure your reading is done from Monday! Finish reading Chapter 3 Indian Captive Group you have vocabulary (Triple Entry Journal) and 2 questions.

Writing: You will be scored on 3 sections of your nonfiction writing on Friday.  (Introduction, Lewis and Clark, and one choice topic for the Westward Expansion.)

Use your checklist -
* include nonfiction text features such as headings, subheadings, maps, pictures, bold face words, etc.
* Remember to include at least 2 - 3 quotes from a reliable source
* You have included your voice

Students will be learning computer Coding on Wednesday from Mrs. Snider and our technology helper Tim Hilton.  We had an assembly today which, hopefully, sparked the students interest! Many students are anxious to start learning!  5th grade will have the opportunity on Wednesday to learn coding on Wednesday from 10:45 - 11:45.

Homework:  Reading
Little House in the Big Woods - Finish two questions - Remember to restate the question within the answer.
What is the flashback in this chapter?
Why do you think the author included this flashback?

Reading: Finish reading chapter 1.  Students received new books today for reading groups. Students are reading historical fiction which goes along with their nonfiction essays.  Students are reading Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder and Indian Captive.  

They are to respond to their reading by answering the question: How does the setting affect what happens in the story? How does the character respond to what happens?
