ELA: Read for 1/2 hour write on reading log

This is not mandatory, but you may try the vocabulary link for studying literary words. Some of the words we have not studied yet, but give it your best shot!  They are words which may be part of the NWEAs!

You should finish at least one book on RAZ KIDS this week!

Social Studies:
Finish Section 2 in your packet, which goes along with 10.2 in your text book. Also read pages 105 & 106 DID NOT READ LAST NIGHT. All the answers will be right in your book so make sure to reference your text book.

ELA: Springboard book - Pages 125 #5 and 126 the Exposition of your short story between the two characters and fill in the conflict for your two characters. (character vs. character, character vs. self, or character vs. society) Then you need to explain what the conflict is.

Read for 1/2 hour and fill in reading log

Social Studies: Read page 105 & 106.  You need to do the second page of your packet. (10.2)

Homework - January 23

 So sorry for not having the homework on the blog this week. I have had a lot of meetings and appointments.

Reading: Finish Illustrated Plot Line - Use the rubric I gave to know what should go into your plot line. Make sure to also put the definitions of the elements of a plot (Page 88 in the Springboard book)

Read for at least 1/2 hour and complete reading log

Social Studies: Your interviews should be completed by tomorrow! You also need to study for the test which was going to be today, but many groups needed more time to complete their projects.

Do the TCI challenge!


NWEA testing will take place next week. Sixth graders be ready and rested for Thursday!

ELA:  Finish Worksheet; Read for 1/2 hour.  Use sticky notes OR a notebook page to explain two events that happened.  You also need to write How you felt about these two events?  What did you learn about the characters, setting or plot?  (It is the same thing you did for the reflective journal)

Finish worksheet we started in class which was over figurative language used in a nonfiction passage.

ELA: I will be collecting reading logs on Friday and reflective journals also.  You should have written about 4 events in your reflective journal.

 One more week for reaching 1/2 way point for reading goal. Make sure you bring in books tomorrow to conference on.  Jan. 17 is the last day to conference for the midway point.


Make sure you pass in Exercise 4 (Commas and quotation marks)

WELCOME BACK ONCE AGAIN!!

Geography BEE is Tomorrow, January 8 at 1:30 in the gym! You are all welcome!

Reading: Read for 1/2 hour from your independent reading book and write in reflective journal - (Explained what happened? How do you feel about it?  What did you learn about the character, conflict, or events?  You should write about at least two events from the story. 

Social Studies: Many students did not have their post cards or they were incomplete done.
If you did not do them or they are not complete you are to add on to what you have started.

Remember: You are to use your book while you are making the post cards and pull details from the section you are writing about.  You need to have at least 3 -4 details about the pharaoh and your structure the pharaoh was responsible for building.

Math: Last Thursday's homework (Fix - Copy and Solve from Thursday's homework)

Homework - January 3

Congratulations to Spelling Bee participants and Winners!  You all worked very hard! A Special Congratulations to Cassie, Jacob, and Emily J. Cassie was our classroom spelling champion, Jacob our second place champion and Emily J. our third place champion!! 

The School Bee will be on January 15, at 1:30. Our Geography Bee will be on January 6 at 1:30 in the gym.  Hope you can make it!

 Social Studies: (Chapter 8) Post Cards over two Pharoahs and pyramids - Make sure to include at least 4 to 5 pieces of information about each one.  You will be scored on voice, organiation, and ideas.  Make sure to use your book for details. You will be presenting these to another class so you need to know all about each one.  (Including what kingdom)
