Why did we study owl pellets?

We can identify precisely what the bird has been feeding on. This is difficult enough with any bird, especially with a night hunter like an owl.
We can get clues to the owl’s hunting habits from the prey it has taken.
We can estimate the numbers of different kinds of prey it takes.
If we find out more about the the prey animals, we learn a great deal about food chains and the exact part the owl plays in them.

We also had FUN!

Welcome 4th Graders!

Mrs. Sprague is so excited to meet you and have you in my class. I have planned a great deal to meet the educational goals for 4th grade, and I hope you enjoy the learning opportunities this year! I am eager to get started and we have a fun-filled year ahead.  We will be reading and writing a lot!  We will also become explorers in Social Studies and do hands-on learning in science.

The 4th grade curriculum covers many exciting new topics and this year will be filled with many meaningful learning experiences. I am passionate about learning and feel that students can learn best when their lessons are relevant and useful. I plan on providing your child with many memorable educational experiences and hands-on activities to help facilitate their learning in a practical way.

I have very high expectations for my 4th grade students, and I am confident we can meet these expectations with teamwork and communication. A child’s quality education needs support and hard work from the teacher, parent, and student; Let’s work together to reach our maximum potential this year!

The First day of school is Wednesday, September 2. Open House will be on September 16th from 5:00 to 7:00. A PTO meeting will follow, and the members of the organization are very eager to get more people involved. We hope to see you there!
