March 18 - Grade 6 Homework

Language Arts:
* Read for 1/2 hour
* Yesterday we read, And You Wonder Why We Get Called the Weird Watsons page 162 in the Springboard book.  Students are going to work in a group to write a man-on-the-street interview.
Students need to brain storm 3 questions they would want to ask one of the characters in the story. The character names page 174.  (two days to do this)

Read 3 articles on speech topic:
Today we started researching our school speech topic.  I showed them a resource they can use for researching.  Go the sixth grade blog - then on the right side there is a link column- click on the the link that says Marvel (The furthest down on the page link for Marvel)

They were given a two graphic organizers to record information they find after reading 3 articles.
They are to write down the sources: (For example- Time Magazine, Name of article, author, date written March 2012)

Can It Really Rain Frogs
They also need to finish conclusion or providing evidence if it is not complete.

Social Studies: Finish Vocabulary if it is not done.

Reading: Finish extended response for, "Can It Really Rain Frogs?" You are to explain the weather phenomena and the author's explanation for the causes of them.  Remember you need to include at least 3 quotes, which is your text support. The only piece of your summer that should be word for word is the quote. 

Make sure to Read for 1/2 hour - working towards your reading goal

Social Studies: Finish your Exit Slip for Judaism - Remember to include information about where it started, by who, when, and how do we know.   In another paragraph you need to include information about the leaders of Judaism.
