Thursday, August 31

I was excited to meet all the students in Mr. Nickerson's class today!

Students started writing about a special place today in Writing. We read the book, All the Places to Love and we discussed how the author used similes in her descriptions.

Students should be reading for 1/2 hour tonight!

Open House is on September 6 from 5 - 6. The newsletter said it was from 5 - 7 but it was incorrect.

There is no school on Columbus Day, October 9.

School Picture Day is October 11!

August 30 First Day of School

The first day of school was awesome! It was so great to meet my homeroom class!  We accomplished a lot in one day! Students were able to pick out an independent reading book and should be reading for 1/2 hour tonight.  (This reading assignment will be for Monday - Thursday throughout the year.)

They also need to bring in a summer souvenir. It needs to be small and could symbolize an event, a person, or special place.

We brainstormed how our class will run smoothly this year. Students came up with all the ideas for being respectful such as being polite, working quietly, and Listening when someone else is talking.

For responsibility students came up with ideas such as cleaning up after themselves, following directions, and being prepared!

Welcome Back to School!!

Wow! I hope you had an awesome summer! I can't wait to be your teacher and share the year with you all!  The first day of school is Wednesday, August 30.

I will be adding homework to this blog and sending along important dates to remember.

It will also be a place where you will find out what is going on in 4th grade ELA and Social Studies.
