Homework September 9
Reading: Read for 1/2 hour
We have started reading groups and students know what group they are in. This homework is not due until Friday because of the field trip on Thursday.
My Side of the Mountain Group - Draw Sam's home in the hemlock tree; read up through page 20; and look up five words you are not sure about. (Try to use context clues to figure out the words - if that does not work Mrs. Sprague will show you a great resource tomorrow)
Do the first three questions
Hatchet - Read up through page 20
Brian's Winter - Finish reading chapter 1 and write down five words you are not sure about (Try to use context clues)
ELA: Keep adding to writer's notebook - strategies for narrative writing adding small stores (people, places, first & last times)
Math: Factors Worksheet
No Science unless you have not covered your books

Great First Day of School!
I think all students had a great day! We learned a little about each other and we worked as a team to reach a goal! Great first day fifth graders!
Students were asked to show you the grade 5 blog and to show you the new Hancock Grammar School's website! They should also be able to show you the student handbook! There is a great deal of information for parents in the handbook.
Fifth grade students can also take part in cross country this year! I will be giving students forms to take home if they want to join. Practice has started today, but it is not too late to join. They will also need a physical before then can start running.
