Click on the link below to read and practice asking bigger questions as you read. Sometimes people call bigger questions thicker or inferential questions. They are questions that you have to think about clues before trying to answer.

We went to the Grand today, To See, It's a Wonderful Life, and it was great! Students got to see and hear a Radio Talk Show being performed. We also watched a movie in class and we will be comparing and contrasting the two genres.
I have not given students homework besides reading for 1/2 hour because of practicing for the concert and going to the Grand.
As far as writing, students should have at least 3 paragraphs for their opinion writing. If they don't have that much done they should be working on it.

For Veteran's Day 4th grade students will be sharing information about a person they know who served or is serving in the military. It does not have to be someone they are related to, so a close friend could work as well.

August 30 First Day of School
The first day of school was awesome! It was so great to meet my homeroom class! We accomplished a lot in one day! Students were able to pick out an independent reading book and should be reading for 1/2 hour tonight. (This reading assignment will be for Monday - Thursday throughout the year.)
They also need to bring in a summer souvenir. It needs to be small and could symbolize an event, a person, or special place.
We brainstormed how our class will run smoothly this year. Students came up with all the ideas for being respectful such as being polite, working quietly, and Listening when someone else is talking.
For responsibility students came up with ideas such as cleaning up after themselves, following directions, and being prepared!
